So who am I… and why would you read a blog post about the future of female leadership written by me? Well, my bet is that I’m not all that different from you. If you’re reading this post, you’re probably a leader, or maybe you’re an aspiring leader. You probably have a huge heart and even bigger ideas. You care about your work, your family, and the future.
I am a woman.
I am a wife, a mother, a daughter, a sister, an aunt, a cousin, and a granddaughter.
I am a hard worker, a community servant, a life long learner, a leader, and a friend.
I try to exercise daily, nourish my body with healthy food most days, and get enough sleep when possible…but on some days I call a bowl of popcorn and a few slices of apple dinner.
I am a woman leader, and I started this movement of cultivating courageous cultures to help other women become the leaders we were born to be.
I was born to hard working, middle class high school sweethearts from Texas. Since I was a child, I have been fascinated with human stories. I love to listen to the stories of others.
I love to share stories, connect them, and collect them for the purpose of driving a deeper understanding of human behavior in organizations and society at large. It has been said storytelling is the oldest form of education. Much of our history and our current culture are communicated through the stories we share.
I love all stories, but I am especially interested in the stories that women tell in the workplace.
So here are my questions for you…
Are we telling stories that help or hinder us?
Are the stories that help us make friends and become endeared to our tribe different from the stories that establish us as a leader and help us succeed professionally?
How can male leaders become powerful advocates for their female counterparts within an organization to drive innovative, courageous organizations?
